Cards with Touch & Go technology provide strong protection against fraud. Here are some facts about the “contactless” cards.
Contactless payments (like Touch & Go) are already common in places like Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. More than 40-percent of Visa® in-store transactions outside the US occur by a contactless method.
Every Touch & Go transaction includes a one-time use cryptographic code that prevents counterfeit fraud. This is the same technology already in use on cards with the EMV Chip.
Contactless cards (like Touch & Go) experience among the lowest fraud rates of any type of payment.
Collecting information from a Touch & Go card is extremely difficult for a fraudster. Even if they could read the card from a distance, they would not have access to the cardholder’s name or 3-digit security code, helping to prevent counterfeit and e-commerce fraud.
The combination of embedded security in Visa® payment products and multi-layered security behind every transaction allows Visa® to keep global fraud rates near historic lows of less than one-tenth of one percent.
